Malaga, capital of the Coast of Sun, is a Mediterranean and cosmopolitan city located next to the hill of Gibralfaro. It is the fifth city of Spain, counting with more than 500,000 inhabitants and has one of best climates of the European continent.
In its historical center they take shelter most of the most important monuments. In the hill of Gibralfaro is the Gibralfaro Castle constructed in century XIV by Yusuf I. It has magnificent views to the city and the port.
In slopes of the mount the Arab Fortress is raised, of the century XI, recently recovered and in whose interior is the Archaeological Museum. Right on his feet one is the Roman Theater (now in restoration), and a little more towards the north, the “Plaza de la Merced”, with the native house of Picasso, and a step just inaugurated Picasso Museum, one of the most important museums of the country.
The Cathedral is one of the best Renaissance temples of Spain, initiate in century XVI is well-known by "La Manquita", since one of its towers is unfinished. To its right is the Sagario Church of gothic-isabelino style. City where prime the harmony, is recommendable to visit the Episcopal Palace and to cross the Chinitas Passage and the Park that counts on a great biological variety.
Other places of interest to visit are the Center of Contemporary Art, the Park of the Conception and, of course, the Larios street, main street of Malaga.
At any time of the year Malaga can be visited thanks to kindness of its climate. Nevertheless, several dates emphasize. For example, the Easter, that is one of most beautiful of Spain, and dates from century XV where thrones march past that with the statures conform a set of great artistic value.
They congregate to thousands of people, and are remarkable the step characteristic of the throne men and some images able to attract more than 60,000 people to its step. From the second Saturday to the third Sunday of August the Fair visited regularly by 6.000.000 of visitors is celebrated, who extend to all the city; in the morning it is enjoyed in the center, cut to the traffic; in the evening it is transferred to the fairground until high hours in the morning. Another interesting and more intimate celebration, is the Verdiales, the 28 of December, dances typical of the province malagueña. In the Cervantes Theater, it has capacity the dance, classic music, the opera, the Festival of Spanish Cinema, the cultural Festival of Jazz and other many manifestations.
